Reportedly little used Pall Water (formerly Pall Corporation) microfiltration membrane filtration system built and designed to UK water utility specifications for potable water production in emergency situations. The system comprises two 40ft containers. This fully automated stand-alone system uses Mitsubishi PLC/HMI and Siemens drives and includes all backwash, clean-in-place, and effluent neutralisation facilities with integrated monitoring of membrane integrity. There are 80 DWI Regulation 31 approved Asahi Microza UNA-620C PVDF microfiltration membrane modules at 50 sq m per module, giving a total system filtration area of 4,000 sq m. The membrane pore size is approximately 0.1 μm. The system was designed to produce 8,000 m³/day from an upland reservoir water source. Without major modification, this system could also be deployed for the recycling of municipal effluent following biological treatment or for the recycling of any moderately turbid effluent with low biodegradability to provide cooling water for industry or feed water for reverse osmosis processes.
