USED 2000 MTPA POLYVINYL ALCOHOL. THE PLANT CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING FOUR SECTIONS: 1. Polymerization Section: In this section Vinyl Acetate is polymerized to Polyvinyl Acetate by suspension polymerization. The major equipment in this section are: (a) Reactors of 25 KL, Limpet Coil with turbine agitator (2 No’s). (b) Reflex Condensers (2 No’s) (c) Post Condensers (2 No’s) (d) Phase separator tanks (2 No’s) (e) Recovered monomer tanks (2 No’s) (f) Colloid preparation tanks (2 No’s) 2. Centrifuging & Drying Section: In this section Polyvinyl Acetate prepared in the earlier step is centrifuged and dried. The major equipment in this section are: (a) Cooling tank, SS -304, Capacity -70 KL with agitator. (b) Balance Tank, SS-304, Capacity – 30 KL with agitator. (c) Waste water tank. (d) Decanter, Pennwalt make, capacity 1 MT/Hr. (e) Fluid-bed dryer, Kilburn make, Capacity: 70kg/hr. The drying section consists of Dryer, Cyclone separator, Blowers, Rotary Valve, Air Filters, Air Heaters, Air De-humidifier, and Bag Filter. 3. Hydrolysis Section: Dried Polyvinyl Acetate beads are dissolved in methanol and hydrolyzed with caustic soda. Major equipment in this section are: (a) Kneaders – (3 No’s) (b) Pulverizers – (3 No’s) (c) Tanks for caustic soda, Acetic Acid, Polyvinyl Acetate dissolution, mixed solvent etc. 4. Recovery Section : This section consists of distillation columns, related tanks & equipment.
