The greenfield plant was commissioned in late 1989, and operated more or less continuously until 2000, when clinker production stopped. The plant did not operate for approx. 4 years and was restarted in 2004, then again operated continuously until 2009 when operation was suspended due to market conditions. Since then it was re-started once or twice a year and operated for a few weeks at a time for permit reasons. Plant was re-started for the last time in January 2012.
